J5 A’s 16-7 Barnhall

After the frustration of the loss to Stillorgan two weeks ago the lads were determined to get back to winning ways last weekend. We started strong. As expected Barnhall put out a different side to the one we beat well in our pre season friendly. We were rewarded from some good play with a try from winger Andy Fitzpatrick fifteen minutes in, which was converted by Garreth Crawford. The rest of the half was affected by the turn in the weather with both side finding conditions tough. Just before half time when they weather slightly improved, Adrian Malone struck a long range kick to put us 10-0 up at half time.

In the second half we began to let them back into the game resulting in a converted try conceded midway through the half. This gave them some confidence. Our defence stood up to the pressure forcing some great turnover. Eventually some good play won a penalty which Garreth converted. The last ten minutes were spent in their half. With the game nearing the end Garreth rounded off the day with a nicely hit drop goal. A good effort from the lads sets us up with a hard away trip to ‘Tarf this weekend.
