Pennant League

A very good allround performance by the pennant side against a very big Coolmine pack.  We struggled in the scrum but the team gave evevything they had.
The backs did very well  in defence and attack.  In a very close first half we took the lead in the 35 minutewith a great try from
Cormac Tracey and converted by Ross O Brien. From the kick off we had to defend our goal line up untillhalftime which we did with great team effort.

Just after the restart we got another great try from our wingfoward Darragh Duggan.  From the line out we followed through on their tap ball and with great soccer skills from Darragh kicking the ball through their defence and diving on the ball for a great try and again an execellent conversion from the boot off Ross to lead 14 /0. From the kick off Coolmine put us under a lot of pressure and scored a try after a few missed tackles.  Lucky for us  their outhalf didnt kick too well on the day as this was his third missed kick. From our kick off they  came right back at us again putting a lot of pressure on our forwards and our backs. Again we gave them a very easy second try and  again they missed the conversion.  Still leading 17 /10  with 15 mins left. Then from our kick off we attacked them and  winningthe loose ball, Ross O Brien went on a solo run to score a brillant try and also convert the conversion. We now had a lead of 21/10 with ten minutes left. Coolmine put us under great pressure again our pack and our backs defended greatly, they got another try and this time they got the conversion to make the score 21/17 with 6 mins left. Our pack came under great pressure again but they tackled everything they threw at us and we held out for a great win 21/17.
