Under 21 Pennant Cup Match
1st Round
St Marys RFC -v- Clontarf

St Marys got off to a great start taking an early lead by a try from Francois, converted by Kieran Murphy – 7 – 0 to Marys. From the kick-off Marys again took control of the game and after some excellent play by the backs and the forwards St Marys crossed the line again, this time by Steve Daly, converted again by Keiran Murphy – 14 – 0 Marys.   Clontarf came straight back at Marys and scored a well taken try which was converted, 14 – 7.  From the re-start St Marys went straight back up the pitch and scored another great try – this time by Darragh Devlin and converted again by Kieran Murphy.   Half time score St. Marys lead 21 – 7. A great first half performance by the squad.

At the start of the second half Clontarf put us under a lot of pressure but St. Marys backs and forwards defended bravely and Clontarf eventually broke through the St Marys defence scoring a try and converting it bringing the score to 21- 14.

Ten minutes left – St Marys continued to defend brilliantly keeping Clontarf from scoring the equaliser.  Game End – 21 – 14 to St Marys.

Well done to the lads, we are into the quarter finals now and need support at the next game!

Thanks to Chops, Ritchie, Hugh, Conor and Max.
