UNDER 21 PENNANT TEAM
SEMI FINAL

SUNDAY 18TH APRIL 2010

St Marys started brightly putting pressure on the TCD pack winning excellent lineout ball and controlling the scrum but slowly TCD got back into the game and were in the Marys 22 for ten minutes but without scoring.  The Marys pack and backline defended brilliantly and from a quick break from inside their own half we entered the TCD 22 for the first time in the game and were awarded a penalty but unfortunately missed.  St Marys kept the pressure on TCD and were awarded another penalty which Darragh Fitzgerald converted.  3-0 to Marys.

TCD came back at Marys and on 35 minutes scored a well taken try but missed the conversion.  5-3 to TCD at half-time.

At the start of the second half Marys played some excellent rugby in the TCD half and were awarded with an excellent try by Shaggy which Darragh converted, 10-5 to Marys.  From the restart St Marys pounded the TCD line putting them under pressure.  St Marys crossed the TCD line for another excellent try this time by Simon O’Donnell.  Marys leading 15-5.    St Marys crossed the TCD line another three times on the first occasion they failed to ground the ball, the second was a forward pass and the third time was a foot in touch.

It was an excellent performance by the Marys squad against a gamely TCD side.  Final score 15-5.

Under 21s Pennant Team now in the final facing UCD or Old Wesley.

Many thanks to Richie, Chops, Peter, Hugh, Conor, Dermotand Max.
