2024/25 Message from the President

From the programme for the Metro League Division 6 final v Clontarf, 28 March 2025.

I would like to wish the best of luck to captain Malo O’Malley and the rest of our J3s as they take on Clontarf FC in the Metro League - Division 6 final on Friday. You have been guided with passion and skill by head coach and club stalworth Dave Gardner, ably assisted with just as much dedication by Ciaran Murphy, Fran Pender and John Miller. And all backed up by the indefatigable club men Richie Fagan and Chris O’Connor. You thoroughly deserve your place in the final and your rugby club is fully behind you, willing you on all the way. So, “rally round your colours boys” and bring it home!

Paudge McGill, President

2024/25 Message from the Chairman Of Rugby

From the programme for the Metro League Division 6 final v Clontarf, 28 March 2025.

Wishing the J3s the best of luck in their league final against Clontarf. To have both J3 and J4 make their respective league finals 2 years in a row is a huge credit to all involved and highlights how strong Junior Rugby is going in the club over the last number of years. You guys have had a great year to date under coaches Dave G and Murph and the captaincy of Michael O'Malley (Malo), and to win back to back leagues would be a huge achievement! Best of luck!

Alan Shirley, Chairman of Rugby

2024/25 Message from the J3 XV Coach

From the programme for the Metro League Division 6 final v Clontarf, 28 March 2025.

Long hard road for J3.

Achieved promotion to div 6 after winning div 7 last season. Lads rolled up the sleeves and have come second to Clontarf by a mere 2 points hence the away final. Nothing between the 2 teams. We put up a good score against them in Templeville and they returned the favour in castle avenue.

So, no it's our turn. Bring it on!!

Dave Gardner, Coach J3 XV

2024/25 Message from the J3 XV Captain

From the programme for the Metro League Division 6 final v Clontarf, 28 March 2025.

Although the 24/25 season has plenty of twists and turns yet to unfold, it has already been a year of incredible success. The relaunch of the J5s into Metro 11, J4’s finishing their league campaign in Metro 8 in the top spot and J3’s securing a final following promotion to Metro 6 - it is the largest group of junior players participating in the club since before Covid.

Training has been attended in record numbers, the standard of rugby has improved continuously, and the atmosphere, ethos and energy of the group has been infectious. Being involved in junior rugby this season has been the biggest privilege I will ever experience as a rugby player, and I am grateful to every single person who has played a role, big or small.

Not only have we returned to fielding 3 fantastic teams, we are competing at all levels. From AIL 1A to Metro 11, Mary’s are a force to be reckoned with. Dublin 6W is blue and we are hunting silverware left right and centre. It’s the stuff dreams are made of.

A heartfelt thanks to the ferociously passionate but deeply caring Dave Gardner. Along with Ciaran Murphy, Fran Pender, John Miller and Chris O’Connor - you lads have kept us on the right path for the last two years and we are all incredibly grateful to each of you.

Whatever happens over the next few weeks will be. I wish both the J3/4s well in their respective finals, but in my opinion, we have all already won together. Over to you, Campo and Dynch.

Michael (Malo) O’Malley, Captain J3 XV
