2023/24 Message from the President
From the programme for the Metro League Division 7 final v Seapoint, 13 April 2024.
Best wishes to everyone involved with the wonderful J3s in their league final against Seapoint RFC on Saturday 6th April. You guys have been great this year and the style of rugby you are playing is a joy to watch. Strengthened by ‘the return’ of 13 ‘young’ 30-year-olds, (or 30 year olds playing like young fellas!), this group has bonded together to make a formidable rugby team. Your Captain Richy Fagan and Vice Captain Malo O’Malley, deserve great credit and your coaching ticket of Dave Gardner, Ciaran Murphy, Fran Pender, John Miller and Manager Chris O’Connor are a well tried and trusted combination of rugby nous and that rare ability of knowing how to win. Good luck today from all of your club mates.
Bobby O’Connor, President
2023/24 Message from the Chairman Of Rugby
From the programme for the Metro League Division 7 final v Seapoint, 13 April 2024.
Wishing the J3s the best of luck in their league final against Seapoint. To have both J3 and J4 make their respective league finals is a huge credit to all involved and further highlights how strong Junior Rugby is going in the club this year. You guys have had a phenomenal year to date under coaches Dave G and Murph and the captaincy of Richie Fagan. Bring the trophy home!
Alan Shirley, Chairman of Rugby
2023/24 Message from the J3 XV Coach
From the programme for the Metro League Division 7 final v Seapoint, 13 April 2024.
When Flats told me I was taking over as j3/j4 head coach I jumped at the chance to be involved with an enthusiastic vibrant group of players.
It has been a hugely enjoyable journey for me this season. Despite all the obstacles we encountered with pitches, training etc. we have played great rugby across both squads and have gotten the results we deserve.my condolences to the j4s on their final loss. But lads that’s why these medals are so precious. Most players never get to a Leinster final let alone win one. Many thanks to Murph, Chris, Fran and John for their huge commitment to running this combined squad. A special thanks to Mossy for the tireless work done behind the scenes. Big appreciation to Richie for his boundless enthusiasm for the cause. Also, thanks to Malo and his band of recruits from Marys who have made a huge contribution to this campaign. So, here’s to next Saturday lads and bringing home the league cup.
Dave Gardner, Coach J3 XV
2023/24 Message from the J3 XV Captain
From the programme for the Metro League Division 7 final v Seapoint, 13 April 2024.
The 2024/2025 season for the J3’s has been one of success with a great group of players all working towards the common goal of winning matches and executing the plan of doing the simple things right. From the outset of the season, it was clear that this was a brilliant group of excellent rugby players on an individual/team basis, and it is my absolute pleasure to captain this side. We now have a tough final against Seapoint with both sides having lost against one each against each other and it is with determination that we aim to win this massive test away to Seapoint, but with this extremely talented group of players anything is possible.
It has been an absolute Honor to captain this group of players and I am very proud of what we have achieved this year, as a team we play as brothers and this rugby family is one that can look with Pride over the achievements this year. One last final big test for this group and hopefully we will be lifting the Trophy on Saturday.
Thank you for all the support over the season and to all the coaching/ background support that make playing rugby for St Marys RFC achievable.
Richard Fagan, Captain J3 XV
