U14 Girls V De La Wes – Friendly match
The U14 Marys girls welcomed De La Wes to Templeville Road on Saturday the 26th of October, the spirits were high as everyone was delighted to be off school for the week and all the girls and coaches were full of energy for the match!! It resulted in a strong win from the girls in blue with the full-time score being 39-22.
The first half was very successful for the Mary’s girls. Emily started off strong with a great kick to De La Wes and Saoirse winning it back and scoring an amazing try right under the posts! Not long after that DLW scored a try to even it out. Not long after Ruby scored another try making the score 10-5. Mia made a great carry which resulted in another try for the Marys girls!! With ten minutes left of the first half Eve made a great run and scored right under the posts and our scrumhalf Adah (Aldi) making the conversion. To end the first half, Ruby got the ball at the Mary’s 22 and ran straight up the wing scoring another try to end the first half making the score 27-5.
At halftime the Mary’s girls regathered to have a quick chat about what we thought was going well and what we thought we could work on, Adah our scrumhalf made some great plans with the backs to help get some more tries in and Emily said that we needed to spread our lines out in order to stop bunching and that is exactly what we did!!
The Mary’s girls had a strong start to the second half with Saoirse scoring a great try and Adah making the conversion! The Mary’s girls then let DLW in with them scoring three tries and one conversion in the second half. To end the match Ruby scored another try! Thanks so much to DLW for coming out to us, and a huge thanks to Lily, Emilia, and Farran for helping DLW out!
Looking forward to our next match against Navan on the 3rd of November!! This will be an exciting match as the Mary’s U14s beat Navan in their semi-final last season!!
