Great start from Mary’s Pennant scoring after only 5 minutes!   A well taken try by Ross Wynne and converted by Kieran Murphy. 7 – 0 to Mary’s.   Subsequently Belvedere took control of the game and dominated for the next 20 minutes scoring two tries and converting both.  Belvedere 14 – 7.  Belvedere scored a penalty 17 – 7.  Just before half-time St Mary’s crossed the line for a well taken try by Quentin Audiffren and converted by Kieran Murphy, Belvedere 17 – 14 @ half-time.  Excellent tackling in the first half by Darragh Devlin and Jack Ebbs – well done lads! 
 
At half time we lost three players through injury – Alan McNamara (Captain), David Callanan and Jack Ebbs – all three had an excellent first half.
 
The second half saw Marys score an early try by Ross Wynne and converted again by Kieran Murphy.  21 – 17 to Mary’s.  From the kick-off Belvedere scored a try, 22 – 21 to Belvedere – very closely fought match – two excellent sides – the match continued and Mary’s scored a further excellent try – this time by Conor Neville – once again converted by Kieran Murphy (kicking boots were on!).  28 – 22 to Mary’s.  The scores continued ..  Belvedere scoring against the run of play – 29 – 28 to Belevedere.    In the dying moments of the game when Mary’s were on the crest of a break-away Belvedere got a controversial try which they converted.  36 – 28 – final score!    The final result did not reflect the hard fought scores of the match – Mary’s were more than equal match on the day.
 
Despite the loss St. Mary’s came away with a bonus point having scored 4 tries – well done lads!    A great display of rugby all round. 
 
Unfortunately some players did not get a run – the game was closely contested and making changes was a difficult call – no reflection on the subs on the bench on the day.
