2025/26 Message from the Chairman of Rugby (Division 7 final programme, 04/04/2026)

Source: SMCRFC J4 v Old Belvedere - 04.04.2026.

Wishing the J4s all the best in their league final against Old Belvedere. You have had another fantastic season under coaches Dave G, Fran, John & Ciaran and captain Dara. It is such a hugely impressive record of making your third successive league final in a row. The whole club is behind you. Bring it home!

Alan Shirley, Chairman of Rugby

2025/26 Message from the J4 XV captain (Division 7 final programme, 04/04/2026)

Source: SMCRFC J4 v Old Belvedere - 04.04.2026.

One year on from our promotion out of Division 8, we push for the opportunity to raise a league trophy for the second year on the bounce. The J4s staged a late title charge, winning our last 5 games in the league. Playing some excellent rugby, this team is full of talent, heart and physicality.

Known for our social aspect off the pitch, this team is a tight-nit group with one thing for sure, every member is proud to pull on the Blue Jersey for one last time this season to hopefully lift the league trophy.

Best wishes are extended to Belvedere RFC for what promises to be a cracking Easter weekend. We invite you to have a drink in the bar and enjoy a spectacular match.

Dara Lynch, Captain J4 XV

2025/26 Message from the J4 XV coaches (Division 7 final programme, 04/04/2026)

Source: SMCRFC J4 v Old Belvedere - 04.04.2026.

Following on from last year’s fantastic result of winning Division 8 we find ourselves in the final of Division 7.

This is a monumental achievement considering the nature of the J4 "Barmen" team, it's based mainly on guys in their early 20's who are in college or starting out on their working careers.

There has been a significant turnover in personnel this season with players moving up grades to fulfil their ambitions, moving away for further studies or seeking work opportunities abroad. We have also suffered quite a few season ending injuries & it is a credit to the guys that have stepped up to fill the void or brought friends into the squad to enable us to be competitive in this year's league.

The two regular season games versus Old Belvedere have been tight affairs with only a score between us in each of the games, sharing the spoils with one win a piece & we expect another tight contest come Saturday.

We've a good relationship with the Belvo team & management, no doubt we'll have a drink together afterwards no matter the result

Fran Pender, John Miller & Dave Garner, Coach J4 XV

2025/26 Message from the Director of Junior Rugby (Division 7 final programme, 04/04/2026)

Source: SMCRFC J4 v Old Belvedere - 04.04.2026.

This J4 team has shown remarkable resilience, and a real never-say-die attitude all season. Every player supports one another both on and off the pitch, which has been a key part of their success.

Dara Lynch has excelled as captain this year, leading by example and driving the team forward in every match.

After winning the Division 8 League last season, they have not found the step up to Division 7 daunting. While they were beaten away by Old Belvedere earlier in the season, they responded brilliantly with a three-point victory on neutral ground at Wanderers.

The final promises to be another close encounter, and I wish Dara and his team the very best of luck. He will have the support of Dave, Fran, John, and Chris on the sideline.

We all hope to bring the League trophy back to Templeville.

Michael O’Flaherty, Director of Junior Rugby
