U14 Girls V Navan – 3rd November 2024
U14 Girls V Navan
The U14 Girls arrived at Navan RFC on Sunday the 3rd of November for their next Leinster League match.
Last season they had a challenging encounter against Navan as they beat them in their semi-final, so it was always going to be a big game.
They quickly started the match with high hopes of winning. Shortly after starting, Katie scored a great team try which Emily then managed to shoot over the posts for a conversion, gaining Mary’s seven points.
After another battle with Navan in attack, Eve won the ball back on Navan’s own twenty two and ran more than half the pitch at pace and managed to score another try for the side. Emily nailed her conversion again, making the score 0-14.
Mary’s regrouped at halftime and got some encouraging words from captain Saoirse and Adah.
The second half was a lot harder as Navan really wanted to score a try. Mary’s had to work hard defensively as Navan had possession for most of the half. At one point, Mary’s were one player down.
Mary’s made some amazing tackles, in particular from Órla, Farran and Emily. They also had some wonderful passes along the back line from Saoirse, Laura, Ruby and Lily.
The match ended with a score of 10-14 to Mary’s.
After the match we had a cake to celebrate Mia’s 13th birthday.
The ref sent along some encouraging feedback after saying he was very impressed with the skill level and that the counter rucking brought a smile to his face.
We thank Navan for having such a wonderful match. Both teams are highly skilled and very passionate about rugby.
Thanks to U14 player Farran Hughes for helping with this week’s match report.
