Mary G’s – 28.09.24

The Mary G’s kicked off the season in Kirwan Park this weekend. It was a close encounter against DLSP with the full time score 41-37 to the home team.

For a season opener, the ladies made some impressive tackles in defence, in particular by Sorcha, Rosemary and Erica. Rhya and Scho played together at 9 and 10, managing to make some great line runs off the scrum. Anna played as hooker, managing to make some sneaky throws to Sarah to gain momentum up the pitch.

Our determined captain Scho scored five tries in total, a combination of chip and chase tries and sprinting along the wing. Rhya scored a later try and conversion.

Sarah scored a valiant try after a steal in the line out which she brought straight over the try line.

A huge congratulations to AJ and Jess on their rugby debuts – both ladies joined us in the preseason and had no problem getting stuck in making endless carries and tackles!

The Mary G’s play again on the 20th October in Claremont Road against Lansdowne.

The ladies are always welcome to new and old players with all levels of experience to join them.

Onwards and upwards for the season ahead!
