Rugby World Cup Opening Weekend.

Last weekend, to coincide with the commencement of the Rugby World Cup, St. Mary’s College RFC and some of our club members were featured on Live Virgin Media One’s Ireland AM and again on News @ 5:30 .

In the morning we saw Presenter, Elaine Crowley interviewed Gareth Logan, Jr. Vice President and former Club Captain, live in the club about the importance of keeping kids engaged in sport and the value of the mini rugby section. Also featured were Lucy Kelly, Ruby O’Hanlon, William Edgeworth and Tom Logan. Judging from the drop kicks, it looks like we have some promising up and coming No. 10s!

Following the Ireland vs. Romania game, the sports section of the News @ 5:30 some more St. Mary’s College legends appeared including Club Captain, Ronan Watters, and Terry Kennedy Snr were interviewed by “our own” Derek Ryan.   Amazing to see the enthusiasm and club spirit, well done to all involved.  It was  historic day for our St.Marys College man Johnny Sexton scoring a total of 24 points while surpassing ROG as Irelands leading world cup point scorer. Well done Johnny!!

We hope to see everyone again this Saturday in the club house bar for Ireland V Tonga @20:00. All welcome!
