Preamble
One of the oldest rugby clubs in Ireland, dating back to 1872, UCC RFC has much to be proud of. However, it is hard to relate its venerability to its impressive, modern surroundings. A really lovely setting. This sports centre has all contemporary requirements for modern sport, including a fine senior rugby pitch. The members also add to its welcoming demeanour if not the venerability, and they treated their visitors generously and warmly.
However, whether a Google Maps conspiracy or malfunction, a number of the Dublin visitors, including your correspondent, were led on a protracted and bewildering tour of the Cork by the system, while refusing to direct the travellers to the grounds to allow them enjoy that hospitality until after kick off. There was an almost perceptible sneering snigger to be heard from the tinny voice having visited Musgrave Park and Wilton, for the fourth time. That said the ruffled travellers arrived in time to see the great proportion of the game, and to feel the added pain of a loss. The losing bonus point and decision leading to its harvesting, did give some comfort.

U20s Match Report
St Marys College RFC U20s 12 – 13 Old Belvedere.
The U20s needed a reaction from last weeks performance and that is what we got from the get-go the U20s were under a lot of pressure but handled it well. Conceding a few penalties before getting out of their own 22. However it was Mary’s who scored first leading at 5-3 at half time.
Second half got underway and the 20s kept conceding penalties and Belvedere went 6-5 up. Mary’s got the ball back and started putting the Belvedere defence under pressure in their 22 and they finally found a gap and got a try under the sticks. 12-6 Mary’s 20s were up.
Marys were again under pressure and got a yellow card for a high tackle and the lads were working extra hard to ensure no gaps would appear in the defence. The 20s were doing really well. A tackle went in on the Belvedere ball carrier the ball was knocked from his hand. Another yellow card for slap down and a Penalty try was awarded to Old Belvedere with seconds remaining. It finished 12-13.
The U20s are on the road this weekend facing Old Wesley in Donnybrook on Friday at 7:45pm. So get down to Donnybrook and support these lads.

J3 Match Report by Mick Flats
Dublin University 27-19 St Mary’s College RFC J3s
Lads what an emotional roller coaster today was, 3 superb individual taken tries today from Denis Daly, James Walsh and Aidan Boyle on a normal day would have won the game for us.
2 yellow cards had us playing a very fit Trinity team for 20 minutes with only 14 men.
Out lineout mauls were on form, until we got into their 22 and could not win a lineout to save our lives.
That and some injuries to Dara (Ankle), Dan (Ankle), Andre (Head ) and Christian (nose) disrupted our mojo.
The good news is that we can regroup and go again next Saturday v Clontarf. Rest now and we can go again next week and get a win under our belts.

J4 Match Report by Mick Flats
St Mary’s College RFC J4s 27-15 Navan
We started off slowly letting the bigger Navan pack dominate us. We first conceded a penalty and then a try from a ruck where our ruck defence was non-existent with no pillars. There wing forward picked and ran under the posts without a hand on him. 10- 0 to Navan.
We did fight back pressing the Navan line without any luck. We did however kick a penalty to go in 10-3 at half time.
A few changes were made a half time made a difference.
Big thanks to George O’Shea who did an amazing job with his first start with us. Other newbies Paddy McCormack and Jack Cosgrove had immense games and we are delighted to have them on board.
Our backs began to take control. An amazing 8/9 break by Captain fantastic Quinny put Matty into space where he exploded down the touch line to score his first of the night. He was to score 2 more to make the Hat trick. We want t out ball back Matty this is not soccer.
He was supplied with magnificent ball from the mature boyishly good looking Murph.
Our final try was from a grubber kick put through from Murph for Paddy to touch down .
The Navan lineout was a mess which Casey took full control off. Great line out wins from Jack O’Kelly and Jack Cosgrove gave us good ball for the backs. Some excellent defence from Rian Cassidy kept Navan out this and his great overall game made him man of the match. Great to have you back Rian.
We got a bonus point from the game and move onto Coolmine next Saturday.
