St. Marys took on the Emerald Warriors on Saturday in the J5 League in Suttonians. Due to the AIL game between Boyne and Suttonians both teams were forced to change in the car park. The Warriors have a much changed team this year having drafted in a few ex-AIL players. Ex-St. Marys player Ray Conboy has also moved to the Warriors as out-half.

The game started at a ferocious pace. The Warriors back-row took a hold of the game and dominated the breakdown with a little help from the man in the middle!! The warriors opened the scoring with an early try due to some lax defending by St. Marys to made the score 5-0. The wind played a significant part in the game with Marys playing into it in the first half.

At the start of the second half, Warriors got another try to leave the score 10-0. This seemed to shake the J5s who went on to score a great try by No.8 Trav which was converted by Barnes. 10-7. A number of penalties were run from in front of the posts as the J5s chased the win. This was to be the turning point as the failed to score again. Final score 10-7.
